Terms of service
Last updated: 22 May 2026.
These terms govern your use of Jotly — the mobile app, the web app at app.jotly.co.uk, and this marketing site. Jotly is operated by Rob Hutchin, trading as Jotly, in the United Kingdom.
1. Beta service
Jotly is currently in closed beta. Access is invitation-only via TestFlight (iOS), Google Play internal testing (Android), or a web invitation. The service is provided free of charge during this period. Features may change, break, or disappear with little notice. Do not rely on Jotly as the only place you store information that matters to you.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Jotly.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe and for any activity under your account.
- One account per person. Don't share an account with someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. See the privacy policy for what that removes.
3. Acceptable use
When using Jotly you agree not to:
- Break any applicable UK law.
- Upload content that infringes someone else's rights, including copyright, privacy, or data-protection rights.
- Try to reverse-engineer, scrape, or attack the service, or use it to deliver malware.
- Use Jotly to harass, threaten, or send unsolicited bulk messages to anyone.
- Probe or stress-test the AI features in ways designed to bypass safety filters, generate harmful content, or extract another user's data.
- Exceed the documented fair-use limits on AI calls. We reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that abuse the service.
4. Your content
You own everything you put into Jotly — your notes, lists, tasks, photos, and chat messages. We claim no licence to your content beyond what is strictly needed to run the service for you (storing it, showing it back to you, processing it through AI to provide the features you've asked for).
You are responsible for the legality of the content you upload. If you upload someone else's copyrighted material, that's on you.
5. AI output
Jotly uses third-party AI models (currently Anthropic's Claude family and AWS Titan, accessed via Amazon Bedrock) to parse your messages, tag and summarise your notes, generate draft messages, and answer questions. AI output is:
- Sometimes wrong.
- Sometimes confidently wrong.
- Not a substitute for human judgement on important decisions.
Do not rely on Jotly's AI output for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Always check anything that matters.
6. Connected services
If you connect a third-party service (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, a social sign-in), you authorise Jotly to access only the data that service exposes to us, and only for the purposes described in the privacy policy. You can revoke access at any time at the provider, in the Jotly app, or by deleting your account.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Jotly running, but we do not promise specific uptime. Planned and unplanned downtime will happen. Push reminders depend on Apple and Google infrastructure outside our control.
8. Changes to the service
We may change, add, or remove features. We will give reasonable notice in-app before making a change that materially reduces functionality. During the beta, the bar for "reasonable" is lower; expect things to move.
9. Termination
You can stop using Jotly at any time. You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, abuse the service, or if we are required to do so by law. If we terminate your account for cause, we will tell you why, unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
10. Disclaimer
Jotly is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, beyond those that cannot be excluded under UK consumer law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or useful.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, to the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to Jotly is limited to GBP 100, or the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, whichever is higher. Jotly is currently free during the beta.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be heard exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in-app before they take effect. Continuing to use Jotly after a change means you accept the new terms.
